Như vậy, Việt Nam trở thành nhà cung cấp tôm hàng đầu tại Hàn Quốc với thị phần tăng từ 33% lên 44%.
Nguyên nhân chính là do nhập khẩu tôm của Hàn Quốc từ Trung Quốc
giảm mạnh. Từ vị trí thứ nhất năm 2013, xuất khẩu tôm từ Trung Quốc sang thị trường này giảm tới
35,7%.
Ngoài ra, một nhà cung cấp quan trọng nữa là Thái Lan cũng bị giảm tới 39,1% lượng xuất khẩu vào
Hàn Quốc. Điều này là do ảnh hưởng của hội chứng tôm chết sớm (EMS, một loại bệnh) tại Trung Quốc
và Thái Lan.
Hiện tại, Hàn Quốc là thị trường nhập khẩu tôm lớn thứ 5 của Việt Nam sau Mỹ, Nhật Bản, EU và Trung Quốc, chiếm 7,9% tổng giá trị xuất khẩu tôm.
